Is that why they decided to invade East and Southeast Asia to create a co-operative entity (in which Japan would be in control of their resources)? Most of Southeast Asiawas under imperial control of countries that US was allied with. The sanctions and protective action against them did anger Japan but don’t make Japan to have been acting only out of retaliation.
Yes I’m aware that the current Japanese constitution statese no war and only humanitarian efforts in part of the military.
